The Sobeys distribution center is one of the largest grocery supplier warehouse developments in North America. Pittsburgh Steel was retained to complete the addition of the refrigeration warehouse addition. A particular challenge for this project was the addition of the mechanical penthouses containing the heavy rooftop units necessary for cooling the building. The mechanical penthouses were designed to be assembled at ground level, once the columns, beams, joist, grating, brace and trim angle was all assembled, we brought in a 500ton mobile crane, once the crane was set up all the penthouses were hoisted up the 100ft in one single lift.
