St. Stefan Serbian Church Ottawa

Client: St. Stefan Serbian Church
Location: Ottawa, Ottawa

St. Stefan Serbian Church was a unique project in many ways. The structure has a complex geometrical form due to the Serbian Orthodox Church architecture, consisting of many arches and domes. Designers chose steel because it was cost-effective solution for achieving the shape and form that the architect wanted and keeping the interior of the church with long open spans. In addition, steel can be assembled during cold weather, provide foundation savings over other systems and its ease of erection when the connections are engineered to precisely fit together on site
